Pilot 2 addresses a fundamental challenge in game development—creating high-quality, engaging games within tight budget and time constraints. With a proof of concept focused on a 2D point-and-click adventure game, this pilot demonstrates how AI-driven tools can automate asset creation, optimize workflows, and maximize creative potential while staying within financial limitations.
The Procedural Content Generation Enabler and Cultural Content Adaptation Enabler work together to automate the generation of game assets—characters, environments, and items—that are not only high quality but also culturally relevant to different audiences. This allows game developers to reduce production costs while maintaining artistic integrity and player engagement.
Additionally, the Enabler Integration Agent assists designers in optimizing multiple aspects of the game development process, from asset creation to coding, ensuring an efficient and structured workflow. Pilot 2 integrates these AI-powered solutions and empowers small studios and independent developers with tools to compete in the industry while minimizing financial risk.
Beyond immediate project benefits, this pilot serves as a blueprint for budget-conscious content creation across the Creative and Cultural Industries (CCIs), showcasing how AI can drive efficiency without compromising creative vision.
Cost-Efficient Development – AI automation lowers asset creation costs and optimizes resources.
Faster Production Pipelines – AI-assisted workflows reduce development time.
Culturally Adaptive Games – AI-driven content adaptation enhances audience relevance.
Smarter Resource Allocation – Budget savings allow more focus on game design and storytelling.
For the Pilot:
Reduced Development Costs – Automated asset creation minimizes expenses on manual design and production.
Faster Time-to-Market – AI accelerates asset generation and streamlines development cycles.
Optimized Workflows – AI integration improves efficiency in both design and technical execution.
Culturally Adapted Content – Games become more engaging by resonating with diverse player communities.
For the Game Industry & CCIs: Empowering Indie Developers – AI-driven workflows lower barriers to entry, making game development more accessible to small studios.
Scalable Cost-Efficiency – AI-supported methodologies can be applied to other creative industries facing budget constraints.
Boosting Innovation in Game Design – AI tools free up creative teams to focus on storytelling, interaction design, and player experience.
New Standards for Smart Game Development – Showcasing AI’s potential to redefine game production, making European studios more competitive globally.
Procedural Content Generation (PCG) Enabler – Automates the creation of game assets, environments, and objects, significantly reducing the need for manual work. Designers can leverage AI-generated variations to maintain diversity and visual appeal while accelerating production.
Cultural Content Adaptation Enabler – Ensures that game elements are culturally relevant and appealing to diverse audiences. AI analyzes audience preferences and adapts characters, narratives, and settings accordingly.
Enabler Integration Agent – Acts as a virtual assistant for game designers, guiding them in the integration of
AI-generated assets, optimizing workflows, and assisting in game logic development.
HAMLET Collaborative Community Hub – A digital co-creation space that facilitates real-time collaboration between developers, designers, and AI researchers, ensuring smooth knowledge transfer and effective use of AI-powered tools.
Pilot 2 will be assessed based on its ability to demonstrate the feasibility of AI-driven, cost-efficient game development. Key evaluation areas include:
Cost Efficiency – Measuring reductions in development costs and budget variances compared to traditional methods.
Development Speed – Evaluating improvements in asset creation time and overall development cycles.
Creative Integrity – Assessing the quality and originality of AI-generated assets and their acceptance by game
designers. Player Engagement – Measuring how AI-enhanced content impacts player immersion, retention, and feedback.
